British-engineered turntables, installed nationwide

The mechanics

How a driveway
turntable works

A simpler machine than most people expect: a slim rotating deck, a quiet electric motor, and a remote control. Here's what's underneath.

The turntable

Just 36mm high, rated to 3 tonnes

The turntable itself stands only 36mm high, built from rustproof aluminium and stainless steel with a brushed aluminium top as standard. It carries a working payload of 3,000kg, with a roll-over payload rated to 4,000kg for vehicles on pneumatic tyres.

The drive motor sits offset 200mm from the turntable, positioned to give clearance for vehicle overhang — and can be installed upside down where a fully flush floor finish and vehicle access from all sides is needed.

The motor

Quiet, smooth, and fully adjustable

A 550W motor, built in the same rustproof aluminium and stainless steel as the turntable, drives the rotation through a waterproof inverter. Rotation speed is adjustable from 60 to 300 seconds, with soft-start and soft-stop acceleration for a smooth, controlled turn.

Everything runs from a standard 230V, 6A, single-phase domestic supply — no three-phase wiring or specialist electrics required.

Site survey

We measure your driveway, check access for vehicles and materials, and confirm the site has suitable drainage and is not liable to flooding.

Base preparation

A reinforced 150mm concrete slab is laid with a smooth, flat surface to BS8204 SR1, held to a tolerance of ±3mm — with power run to within 1m of the motor inverter.

180°

Turntable installation

The turntable is secured to the slab with concrete ground anchors, and the motor and controls are fitted and wired in by qualified engineers.

Testing & handover

We run a full rotation test, check load and safety tolerances, then hand over your remote fobs and warranty documents. With two installers, most jobs take under a day.

Controls

Turn it with a button, not a three-point turn

Every turntable is supplied with rugged, rechargeable handheld remote fobs, alongside a Programmable Motion Controls (PMC) panel with function buttons to assist with vehicle loading and positioning. Left-turn and right-turn are both controlled directly from the remote.

Rotation speed is adjustable from 60 to 300 seconds, and can be stopped at any point for precise positioning.

  • Rugged, rechargeable handheld remote fobs
  • Programmable Motion Controls with left/right turn buttons
  • Adjustable rotation speed, 60–300 seconds
  • Soft-start, soft-stop for a comfortable turn

Care & safety

Built for outdoor use, with a little upkeep

For safety, we recommend keeping at least 1m of clear space around the turntable, with a clear line of sight for the operator during rotation. The PMC panel isn't waterproof by design, so outdoor installs are fitted with additional weatherproof housing.

In areas that see temperatures below 0°C, we advise testing the turntable before use to check it hasn't frozen solid. Regular cleaning to remove dirt and road salt also helps reduce the risk of corrosion over time.
